Classroom discipline policy
1. Be in your assigned spot ready to play on time and have all necessary materials ready. Stay in your seat or assigned spot unless you have permission to leave. At the end of the rehearsal, put away all materials in their proper place.
2. Receive permission to talk or play on your instrument.
3. Follow all instructions the first time they are given.
4. Receive permission before eating or drinking any food or drink item during a rehearsal or performance.
5. Be respectful of other class members,teachers and sponsors.
6. Follow all school rules as stated in the EHS student handbook concerning dress, illegal substance usage and behavior.
7. Please receive permission before using any piece of equipment that you do not have the authority to use.
Students who are tardy unexcused (less than 10 minutes) to an early or extra rehearsal will receive a warning on the first tardy and have their participation grade for that week deducted. After the second tardy that week, the student will be required to serve a 7th hour detention in the bandroom within 2 school days. After the third tardy consequences will be increased including but not limited to additional time after school and or removal from marching or concert position. Students arriving with an unexcused tardy after being more than 10 minutes late from an extra rehearsal, will be considered absent from the rehearsal and will lose the points for that rehearsal in addition to the above consequences, their are other consequences as stated in this handbook.
Students who are tardy (excused or unexcused) must check in with the director before reporting to their assigned spot so that they are not marked absent.
Students who are tardy for the beginning of the regular school day (8:00 a.m.) will receive an unexcused tardy on their permanent attendance record and will serve a seventh hour detention. The school’s tardy policy will take effect after the fourth tardy. Students who are tardy for any other hour will serve a 7th hour detention.
Students who do not have all of their necessary materials will be warned the first time during the week and will have their participation grade for that week deducted. After the second day the student does not have their necessary materials, they will be given a 7th hour detention that must be done within 2 school days and lose their participation grade points. After the third day students are missing materials, consequences will be increased including but not limited to additional time after school and or removal from marching or concert position. Students who bring food or drink of any kind to rehearsal, into the bandroom or are eating during a performance, before or after their break time, will serve two 7th hour detentions. This severe consequence is necessary because of the damage to equipment and facilities and problems with insects that are attracted to food.
Other discipline consequences include detention, suspension and expulsion as determined by the administrative staff.
