Lettering Policy
Students desiring to letter in band or orchestra must fulfill the following requirements
1. Must have been enrolled band for the entire school year.
2. Have no unexcused absence at a major performance or required event (concerts, competitions, home football games, other performances)
3. Have no more than 2 unexcused absences at regular or extra rehearsals.
4. Be an example of good discipline and proper attitude.
AND
5. Complete one of the following:
a. Attend all required summer marching band rehearsals held before school in August with no tardies or leaving early except for their enrollment day.
b. Prepare for properly and audition for an honor group (All-region, All-state, Summer Arts Institute).
c. Prepare for properly and perform a solo or ensemble at the district solo and ensemble competition.
d. Participate in jazz band for the entire second semester with no unexcused absence at a rehearsal or performance.
e. Participate on the EHS Screamin’ Eagle flag team for the entire year and have no unexcused absence at a rehearsal or
performance.
First year lettermen will receive a letter "E" suitable for placing on a letter jacket. Second, third and fourth year lettermen will receive a letter bar that can be placed on their letter.
Instrumental Music Awards
At the end of each school year, awards are presented to band and orchestra members have shown outstanding accomplishment. They
include: the Outstanding Band Member in each grade, the most improved band member in each grade, the outstanding music achievement award, the outstanding senior band member and the outstanding senior orchestra member, as well as others. To be eligible for the EHS Band achievement award you must have lettered and fulfilled one of the following requirements:
1. Participate in an honor group.
2. Receive a superior rating at district solo or ensemble contest
3. Receive a superior rating at regional flag ensemble competition.
End of the Year Overnight Trips
The EHS band will occasionally take end of the year, overnight trips to performances or competitions, possibly out of state. These trips are a reward for the students hard work throughout the school year. Students will be provided opportunities to earn money to pay for these trips and parents are urged to help the band parent organization also earn money for these trips.
Students who attend these trips must meet the following conditions:
1. Must have been in band both semesters of the school year, either at Eisenhower or another school if they have moved in.
2. Must have attended all required major performances (concerts, competitions and home football games).
3. Must be academically eligible as well as eligible by attendance.
4. Have a good discipline record.
5. Have missed no more than 2 extra rehearsals after school or sectionals before school.
